The percussionist returned to his native Australia on Tuesday (22Dec15) to celebrate Christmas in private with relatives after a busy year in which his band headlined its first world tour.

However, on Wednesday morning (23Dec15), the Don't Stop musician revealed in a post on the Google+ social network that an unknown person had disclosed his mother's address on the Internet.

In the angry message, Ashton also indicated that he wanted to spend some time away from the attentions of his fans and advised those who had discovered his family's whereabouts to stay away and not pass on the information.

"If you have my address please delete it. It's my time to be with my family, " he wrote. "I love you guys, but I need to be away from people for a while.

"Thanks to the a**hole who posted my mums (sic) address threatening the lives of my family just by doing so. Really, you are one of the lowest human beings I have ever met. Hope you're happy."

Fans of the band were quick to show support for their idol, and on Wednesday the hashtag #WeLoveYouAshton quickly rose to the top of social network's list of worldwide trending topics.
