In probably one of the most vague reunion announcements in history, best-selling Swedish band Abba revealed that they are planning a live digital experience with the help of 'American Idol' creator Simon Fuller. However, we've no idea if this means they'll actually perform on stage together again.

AbbaWhat's ABBA's live experience all about?

ABBA and Simon Fuller will be partnering with Universal Music Group for an innovative new 'virtual' show, more than 30 years since their last gig as a band - not including their impromptu performance of 'The Way Old Friends Do' which took place at a 50th anniversary private party in June this year.

'We are exploring a new technological world, with Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence at the forefront, that will allow us to create new forms of entertainment and content we couldn't have previously imagined', XIX Entertainment CEO Simon Fuller said in a statement. The music magnate is an pioneer in reality television and has recently been using his business to invest in a number of technological advancements in the world of entertainment.

The question is, what kind of 'virtual reality' are we talking about? They certainly wouldn't be the first to unveil a hologram performance. In 2007, 'American Idol' saw the late King himself, Elvis Presley, perform a duet of 'If I Can Dream' with Celine Dion. Five years later in 2012, Tupac - who died in 1996 - hit the stage with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre at Coachella, and in 2014 the Billboard Music Awards brought Michael Jackson back to life with his own 3D projection.

This kind of technology is not only reserved for the deceased, however; something that M.I.A. and Janelle Monae proved in 2014 when the pair managed to duet despite being on separate stages in New York and Los Angeles respectively at the time. This kind of virtual concert is particularly popular with K-pop groups like Girls Generation in South Korea.

ABBA formed in Stockholm in 1972 and went on to become one of the most successful pop groups in the world. They won the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 and have had the most success of any artist to take part in the show. With hits like 'Mamma Mia', 'Waterloo', 'Dancing Queen' and 'Take a Chance on Me', they remain at the vanguard of pop music and, despite their break-up in 1982, their music has been constantly re-visited, even forming the basis of the explosive Broadway musical 'Mamma Mia!'.

All the details for this cutting-edge reunion will be announced in 2017.
