Adam Sandler has insisted that his new movie 'The Ridiculous Six' is not racist.
Adam Sandler has insisted that 'The Ridiculous Six' does not mock Native Americans.
A dozen actors recently walked off the set amid claims the script features derogatory depictions of Native Americans but Adam insisted the movie is actually ''pro-Indian''.
He said: ''I talked to some of the actors on the set who were there and let them know that the intention of the movie is 100 per cent to just make a funny movie.
''It's really about American Indians being good to my character and about their family and just being good people. There's no mocking of American Indians at all in the movie. It's a pro-Indian movie. So hopefully when people see it -- whoever was offended on set and walked out, I hope they see that, and that's it. It was kinda taken out of context.''
Adam's comments came after rapper-turned-actor Vanilla Ice also defended the movie.
He said: ''It's a comedy. I don't think anybody really had any ill feeling or any intent or anything. This movie isn't 'Dances With Wolves'. It's a comedy.
''They're not there to showcase anything about anybody - they're just making a funny movie, I think. I don't have anything to do with it. I just play my part.''
He did, however, say that as he is ''part Choctaw'', he can see both sides of the issue.
