Adele has paid tribute to the innocent victims of the terrorist attack in Westminster during her recent concert in New Zealand, dedicating a song to them.

The London-born singer, 28, prefaced a performance of her song ‘Make You Feel My Love’ by acknowledging the attacks that were carried out near London’s Houses of Parliament on Wednesday (March 22nd).

“Today there was a terror attack in my hometown of London,” Adele, who grew up in Tottenham in North London, told the crowd on Thursday evening. “I'm literally on the other side of the world and I want them to see our lights and to hear us.”

Four people, including an armed police officer and the attacker himself, were killed and dozens more injured, some of them critically, when a car drove on the pavement into a crowd of people on Westminster Bridge. The perpetrator then attacked the armed officer with long knives before he was shot.

“It's very strange not being home, all I want to do today is be at home with my friends and family," the singer continued. “All of them are fine but there are four people who aren't fine so let's dedicate this to them tonight, and to my hometown, which is my soulmate.”

The 45,000-strong crowd at Auckland’s Mount Smart stadium then held up lights while the Grammy-winning singer delivered an emotional performance of her hit song.

Adele’s current leg of her massive world tour in Australia and New Zealand will be the final performances before she returns to London for four enormous concerts at Wembley Stadium in June and July.
