Adele has gone straight to the top of the UK singles chart this week with comeback single ‘Hello’. The track took the top spot after combined sales of over 333,000 copies, making it the UK’s biggest selling number one in three years.

‘Hello’ now also holds the record as the most streamed track in a single week, notching up an incredible 7.32 million streams. The single was streamed almost doubled the amount of times as previous record holder Justin Bieber, who scored 3.87 million in a week with ‘What Do You Mean?’ last month.

The single is Adele’s first release from her much anticipated new album 25, which is out on November 20th. Speaking about the success of ‘Hello’, Martin Talbot, chief executive of the Official Charts Company said: "The success of ‘Hello’ this week underlines what an extraordinary artist Adele is - a once in a generation artist, who appeals to kids, teenagers, mums, dads, aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandads.”

In at number two was Justin Bieber with ‘Sorry’. The single managed 102,000 combined sales in its debut week on the charts, while also amassing 4.48 million streams. Elsewhere, Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ moved up one place to take the number three spot.

Moving an impressive seven places in its fifth week on the chart was Sam Smith’s Spectre theme ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ which re-entered the top five at number four. While The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’ fell three places to round off the top five.
