Adrien Brody has replaced Gary Oldman as the lead bad guy in 'Motor City'.

The actor is the latest in a string on stars to be associated with the project - including Dominic Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal and Amber Heard - which is being directed by Albert Hughes.

Should negotiations complete, Adrien will star opposite Gerard Butler in the film about a recently released prisoner who goes on the hunt for the man who framed him.

However, they will not have long to make a final decision on the project as shooting on the Chad St John-written script is due to begin in Atlanta, Georgia in September ahead of a planned April release date in the US.

Adrien has seen his career be relatively quiet of late, having only appeared in Woody Allen's 'Midnight In Paris' alongside Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and Rachel McAdams and education drama 'Detachment'.

He recently completed work on Chinese-based drama '1942'.
