We at Contactmusic are excited to bring you the full live stream of Agnes Obel live at Le Grand Rex in Paris, scheduled to start at 10:00pm Paris time (8:00pm GMT; 3:00pm EST).

The Danish singer brought us much enjoyment with the release of her second album 'Aventine' in September 2013, so it's a thrill that she's back on the road to showcase it around Europe over the next few months. Now, even if you can't make any of her gigs this year, we're pleased to bring her to you today (April 14th 2014) in partnership with Pias & Arte Live Web.

Agnes Obel 2013 promo

Agnes first became a phenomenon after releasing her debut album 'Philharmonics' in 2010 through PIAS records. It was an instant hit, topping the album charts in her home nation of Denmark with multi-Platinum status and also coming No. 1 in Belgium - and No. 8 in France, where you can see her perform this evening. With hits such as the gorgeous 'Riverside', it got us wondering what to expect from the ominous prospects of album two, and we have to say we weren't disappointed. 'Aventine' became her second Danish and Belgian chart-topper and has already received Gold certification.

Watch the gig live here:

Recorded in Berlin, Germany, it's a beautiful collection of songs, such as singles 'Fuel to Fire' and 'The Curse', that is yet more captivating than 'Philharmonics'. She has described the latter song and 'Run Cried the Crawling' as the tracks that best define it. 'To me, they are the two songs where I think I got closest to the initial idea I had when I started making the album', she revealed. 'Both very different from what I've done before but, at the same time, very much related to it.'

Agnes was responsible for the majority of work on 'Aventine'; singing, song writing, piano playing, recording and producing; and it's thrilling to see a musician so inspired in her music making. 'To me, sounds have always been more interesting than words', she poignantly pointed out after the album release. 'I love it when the voice becomes an instrument and you almost forget it's a human voice.'

It's obvious just how much work has gone into making the album on Agnes' part, which makes it all the more special that her Paris live show will be available as an experience for everyone. She will also be playing in the UK, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, Germany and Switzerland in the coming months, with several festival dates including Suffolk's Latitude Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival and Lille's Festival Les Nuits Secretes.
