Alesha Dixon (born 7.10.1978)
Alesha Dixon is an English singer and TV personality. She first found fame in the female pop group Mis-Teeq when her distinctive vocal style made her stand out from the rest of the band. Since the band spilt, she has made numerous television appearances, including being crowned the winner of the popular British TV show, Strictly Come Dancing.
Childhood: Alesha was born to a Jamaican father and an English mother and was one of seven children: two half-brothers and a half sister on her mother's side; three half brothers on her father's side.
Alesha attended Monks Walk School in Welwyn Garden City. She had originally intended to train to become a PE teacher and earned a place at Loughborough University. However, she put her career on hold when she was approached on a train by a record producer who enquired whether or not she could sing.
In 1999, Alesha joined a West London dance academy, 'Dance Attic' and met Sabrina Washington there. The pair met Su-Elise Nash during an audition and, along with Zena McNally, formed Mis-Teeq and signed to Telstar Records.
Musical Career: Mis-Teeq's debut single was released in 2000. After the release of 'Why?' McNally left the band and the remaining three members took the decision to remain as a trio.
The debut album, Lickin' On Both Sides was released in 2001 and spawned several hits, including 'All I Want' and 'Roll On / This Is How We Do It'.
Mis-Teeq's second album, Eye Candy included the singles 'Scandalous' and 'Get It Back'. The band toured the US in 2004 before returning to Europe to work on their third album. Unfortunately for the band, Telstar Records folded, leaving the band with no choice but to release a Greatest Hits compilation under Universal Records. Shortly after this release, the band announced that they would be splitting up in order to pursue solo careers.
Polydor records signed Alesha to a £500.000 record deal. A number of high profile producers worked on the album, including Paul Epworth and Richard X. the debut single from the album, ''Lipstick' was released in 2006 and charted at number 14 in the UK charts. The second single, 'Knockdown', fared less well, peaking at number 45.
Late 2006, it was reported on Alesha's website that the singer had parted company with Polydor Records. The album remained unreleased and Polydor gave Alesha full rights to the work, entitled Fired Up.
In 2008, she announced plans to release the album in Japan and Asia.
Alesha recorded a song, released for download in 2008, for the Ford Focus promotional campaign. The tracks featured musical instruments made from actual car parts.
Modelling: Alesha is represented by Select Model Management. Her past magazine covers include FHM, Arena, Company, and Bliss.
Alesha was chosen as the lead female to star in N*E*R*D's video for 'She Wants To Move', after Pharrell Williams spotted her on the cover of Arena. She has previously been listed in FHM's '100 sexiest women' polls.
Television Appearances: Since leaving Mis-Teeq, Alesha Dixon has appeared in a number of television shows. She has presented the MOBO Awards, CD:UK and the TV coverage of the BRIT Awards.
Alesha has also made guest appearances on the BBC current affairs programme, This Week, as well as winning the 2007 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Since Cheryl returned to the spotlight earlier this year, she has been subject to much criticism. Her comeback performance on The X Factor, with her newest single, Love Made Me Do It, was widely panned. Now, as one of three Dance Captains on BBC’s latest reality show, The Greatest Dancer, it’s been reported she doesn’t get on with one of her co-captains, professional dancer, Oti Mabuse.
Cheryl will appear on a new BBC talent searching show next year
However, the mother-of-one has refused to let speculation and rumour become fact and has come out to quash suggestions of a feud between the two women.

Dixon, who won 'Strictly' ten years ago, defended Alexandra Burke's displays of emotion in the current series - "the bubble is real".
Following criticism of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Alexandra Burke from some quarters of social media for her displays of emotion on the show, one of its former stars Alesha Dixon has stepped forward to defend the singer.
Former winner of ‘The X Factor’ Burke has been performing well on the current 15th season of ‘Strictly’ so far, scoring well routinely by judges, but she’s found herself in the bottom two of the public vote and forced to do the dance-off for the last two weeks. As such, she’s been accused of ‘fake’ displays of emotion as the results have been read out.
However, 39 year old former Mis-Teeq singer Alesha Dixon has defended Burke – and she’s well placed to do so, having won the show in 2007 and then becoming a temporary judge in the seventh series, stepping in for Arlene Phillips.

The accident took the life of his best friend who was driving.
Alesha Dixon is left grief-stricken and desperately worried after her younger brother was rushed to hospital in a very bad shape after a serious car crash in Hertfordshire which left his best friend dead. Luckily, it looks like John is going to make a full recovery, though he'll doubtlessly be agonised by the loss of his pal.

The 38-year-old 'Britain's Got Talent' judge is distressed by her 30-year-old brother John Lonergan's recent road accident which gave him a number of broken bones and killed the driver James Bartell, 29. Sources say that she is extremely worried about her sibling, though he is expected to recover.
Sharon was replaced by Alesha Dixon for the Edinburgh auditions ahead of season 14 of 'The X Factor'.
Dixon has only recently finished her regular stint on the judging panel of fellow ITV show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, but was drafted in for ‘The X Factor’ auditions this week after Sharon flew back to Los Angeles in order to seek treatment for the “recurring” problem with her back.

Judge Dixon referred to one act as "sexy chocolate men" on Wednesday night's semi-final, and was also criticised for pressing other judges' buzzers.
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ viewers on social media are calling for judge Alesha Dixon to be kicked off the panel after she described one act on the show as “sexy chocolate men” on Wednesday night's semi-final.
The 37 year old singer, formerly of noughties girl group Mis-Teeq, made the remark while praising the opera group Vox Fortura after they gave a rendition of David Bowie’s ‘”Heroes”’. Four sexy chocolate men,” she said as they finished, “with amazing voices, polished to perfection. That was sensational.”
Immediately, irate fans took to Twitter to call for Dixon to make a public apology for the reference, while others demanded that she be fired from the show.

Not much is changing as the talent completion enters its 10th series.
Simon Cowell and the producers of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ have confirmed the judging panel will remain the same as the show enters its 10th series. Cowell, David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon will all be back next year, as will hosts Ant and Dec.
Simon Cowell has revealed the 2016 ‘‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judging panel.
"I can't believe that in 2016 we are going to celebrate ten series of ‘Britain's Got Talent’. So, let's make this a special year and we want the best of the best to come and audition. There will be lots of surprises in store,” Cowell said.
Her performance of 'God Save The Queen', which became 'Gad Save The Queen', was one of the most talked about aspects of the F1 event.
Alesha Dixon hit back on Twitter at Grand Prix fans who have been criticising her rendition of the British national anthem at the weekend, saying she deliberately chose to sing a “particular version” of the lyrics. Meaning “the wrong version”, presumably…
The 36 year old ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge came in for derision after her performance of ‘God Save The Queen’ at the British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday (July 5th) turned into something more like ‘Gad Save The Queen’, with many criticising her apparent American accent.
She also got the words wrong in her a-cappella version (though there was a full brass band waiting just behind her in the shot?), singing “God save our Queen” as the final line of the anthem where it should have been ‘the’.
The English singer did the honours before the British Grand Prix on Sunday, and was criticised for singing in an American accent and getting the words wrong.
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Alesha Dixon was roundly derided for a hilariously dodgy rendition of the British national anthem at the Silverstone Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon (July 5th), which included forgetting some of the words and adopting an American accent.
Before the Formula One race started at the annual event in Northamptonshire, former Mis-Teeq member Dixon, who is due to release her first album in five years later in 2015, was invited to sing ‘God Save The Queen’ to the assembled fans, who had turned out in their thousands to see British driver Lewis Hamilton eventually claim the win.

The judges' choice of outfits got some a bit hot under the collar when the final went out live back in May.
Ofcom has decided that the revealing dresses worn by Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon during the final of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ last month are not worthy of further investigation, ruling that the outfits “appropriately covered” the two judges.
The final, broadcast live on ITV on May 31st, drew 89 complaints to the media regulator about the female judges’ choice of outfits that they felt were unsuitable for a pre-watershed programme. Holden’s blue dress featured a plunging neckline, as did Dixon’s slightly tighter-fitting black one.

The comedian and talent show judge may have already enlisted the rest of his ‘Britain’s’ Got Talent’ family for the project.
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge David Walliams is reportedly putting his experiences on the ITV series to good use and writing a sitcom based around a talent show. Walliams, who has been a judge on the series since 2012, is said to have already got his fellow ‘BGT’ judges excited about the project and they’ve even asked for starring roles.

Speaking to The Sun, Alesha Dixon said that when Walliams’ revealed the project she and fellow judge Amanda Holden immediately demanded parts. "There has been a conversation," Dixon said. "Amanda and me are very keen to be involved. I think Simon [Cowell] would be up for it too. We'll bully our way in! I told David that whatever he does, just make sure sure I'm a cool character.”
