Some of Britain’s most stylish women were on hand for last night’s (June 3rd) Glamour Women of the Year awards. Dame Helen Mirren took home the highest honour, being named an ‘Icon’ at the ceremony, while the ever stylish Alexa Chung was named entrepreneur of the year. But who won in the style stakes on last nights fashion filled red carpet?

Alexa Chung led the way with a stylish and subtly sexy black Dior dress, the knee length number featured a peek-a-boo lace design at the top and then flowed out into a full skirt. Of course you can always count on Alexa to be on top of the latest red carpet trends and her dress included the star's favourite feature of the moment, pockets.

Both television presenter Caroline Flack and model Daisy Lowe decided to step back in time for the evening, wearing dresses from William Vintage. Lowe channeled the 1950s in her dark green ball gown with sweetheart neckline. While Flack opted for a strapless form fitting black dress which featured figure enhancing ruffle detailing.

Of course, if you’re looking for some drama on the red carpet then Paloma Faith usually doesn't disappointed. This time she tackled the sheer look a little more subtly than Rihanna with her black Nicholas Oakwell dress which mixed the see through fabric with flower embroidery.

To collect her icon award, Helen Mirren looked elegant as always in a white floral lace dress by Chinese designer Huishan Zhang. TV presenter Jameela Jamil pulled off what could a been a red carpet fail by managing to work a white Vivienne Westwood wedding gown into an evening dress. Despite looking as if it was slightly too big for Jameela, the dress did fit perfectly with the presenter's quirky style.

Sophie TurnerSophie Turner in Alexander McQueen

'Game of Thrones' star Sophie Turner brought a bit of edge to the evening in her Alexander McQueen plaid mini dress which she accessorised with a black leather waist clinching belt. While supermodel Naomi Campbell also had a hit in McQueen, wearing an over the top red feathered creation.

Actress Taylor Schilling certainly turned a few heads at the ceremony. The ‘Orange is the New Black’ star wore a glitter Peter Pilotto dress with a very plunging neckline. she then finished off her look with a pair of nude Jimmy Choo heels. In contrast 'Revenge’s' Emily Van Camp stayed covered up in a patterned Monique Lhuillier dress, featuring long sleeves and a high, rounded neckline.
