The True Blood star has teamed up with 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer and a film crew from sketch site Funny or Die to set sail to the Greenland Sea with the environmental organisation, and during the voyage, they will be shooting a number of skits to raise awareness of the potential problems in the Arctic.

Greenpeace activists have been documenting the trip in posts on the ship's Twitter.com page, sharing snaps of the actors filming, writing, "It's all happening! @funnyordie filming the 1st EVER #ArcticComedy series starring Alexander Skarsgard & Jack MCBrayer (sic)!"

Skarsgard says of the trip, "This Arctic project is about raising awareness and about getting some important messages out there. But we're trying to do it in a way where we kind of make fun of ourselves, Jack and I. So we're trying to do a slightly comedic spin on something that is very serious - a comedic take on a life-and-death question."
