Alice Cooper's Star-studded Hollywood Vampires Album Will Be Released On The 14th Anniversary Of The 9/11 Terrorist Attacks.
Cooper and supergroup pals Johnny Depp and Joe Perry have spent months perfecting the self-titled covers album, which features guest spots from Dave Grohl, Paul MCCartney, Perry Farrell, The Doors star Robby Krieger, Joe Walsh, Slash and the late Christopher Lee, among others.
The 14 tracks include covers of Cooper's School's Out and Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2, which are now available as downloads. Cooper, Depp and Perry have also recorded a new song, titled My Dead Drunk Friends, for the album.
The trio borrowed the name used by the rock stars who used to hang out after hours at the Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles back in the early 1970s.
Cooper says, "To join the club, one simply had to out-drink all of the members. I would walk in on a typical night, and John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon - who would usually be in a costume, like a maid or a chauffeur - (songwriter) Bernie Taupin and Mickey Dolenz would be there."
Cooper and Depp resurrected the Hollywood Vampires three years ago and invited Perry to become a fixed member of the project. All proceeds from sales of the album will be donated to the MusiCares charity.
