Alice In Chains star Jerry Cantrell was honoured with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award at the eighth annual MusiCares benefit in Los Angeles on Thursday (31May12).
The rocker was applauded for the work he does helping fellow musicians through addiction recovery.
Cantrell follows in the footsteps of James Hetfield, Chris Cornell, Alice Cooper and Dave Gahan, who have all been honoured in previous years.
Heart bandmates and sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson and Duff MCKagan were among Cantrell's friends who showed up to support the star at the gala.
Cantrell, who has been sober for nine years after battling drug addiction, says, "I'm as imperfect as they come. I just don't get high today and wake up the next morning and try and do the same thing."
