Amanda Redman (born 12.08.1957)
Amanda Redman is an English actress best known for her role as Sandra Pullman in the BBC TV series 'New Tricks'.
Childhood: Amanda Redman was born in Brighton, Sussex. Her parents were Ronald and Joan Redman, and her aunt was actress Joyce Redman. As a baby, she suffered third-degree burns on 75% of her body when she was scalded by a pan of hot soup and she was pronounced clinically dead at hospital. She trained as an actress at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Acting career: Amanda Redman had an early role in 1981's 'Richard's Things' opposite Liv Ullmann and Peter Burton. In 1984, she was Marina in the BBC Shakespeare production of 'Pericles, Prince of Tyre' alongside Mike Gwilym. The following year she landed the leading female role in a touring production of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'. In 1992, she was in the comedy drama series 'El C.I.D.' and in 1993 she appeared opposite Kristin Scott Thomas in 'Body & Soul'. In 1999, she portrayed actress Diana Dors in 'The Blonde Bombshell' alongside Keeley Hawes. In 2000, she had a role in the Oscar nominated movie 'Sexy Beast' which also starred Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone. Between 2000 and 2003, she had the lead role in the drama comedy series 'At Home with the Braithwaites' opposite Peter Davison for which she was nominated for a BAFTA TV award. She landed her biggest role to date in the detective series 'New Tricks' in which she starred from 2003 to 2013 alongside Dennis Waterman and Alun Armstrong. She is the principal at the Artists' Theatre School in Ealing.
Personal life: Amanda Redman has a daughter named Emily whose father is Robert Glenister. She encouraged Robert's brother Philip Glenister to pursue acting as a career. She married Damian Schnabel in 2010 after an 11 year relationship. She is a fan of Coventry City FC. In 2012, she was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
