Ryan Seacrest Confirms He Will Rejoin 'American Idol' On ABC

After several weeks of speculation and negotiations, Ryan Seacrest has finally confirmed that he will indeed be returning to host ‘American Idol’ when the show is revived on ABC later this year.

42 year old Seacrest was the main presenter for all 15 original seasons of ‘American Idol’ on Fox, from its inaugural series way back in 2002 to its ‘farewell’ season last year. However, back in May, the ABC network announced that it would be bringing the reality show back, having won an intense bidding process.

Seacrest, who now works for ABC on morning show ‘Live With Kelly and Ryan’, confirmed after a couple of months of negotiating that he would be taking on his role once more, and made the announcement on Thursday morning’s show (July 20th).

Country star Carrie Underwood has described her time on ‘American Idol’ as, “the most horrifying thing.” The 32 year old shot to fame after winning the fourth season of the reality series in 2005, but says the experience of competing on the Fox show was scary, as she was all by herself for the first time.

Speaking to Parade magazine, Underwood said, “Idol was probably the most horrifying thing, because I had never been away from my hometown like that before. I was in L.A., of all places, by myself, putting myself out there, which is a scary thing for anybody to do."

At one point it was the most popular reality in U.S. TV history, but ‘American Idol’ is coming to an end. Fox announced today that the upcoming fifteenth season would be the final one.

At the peak of its popularity, ‘American Idol’ was watched by more than 30 million viewers, and helped launch the careers of the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks and Carrie Underwood. However, its ratings have waned over recent years, and Fox have decided to pull the plug.

Fox Orders Second Season Of 'Empire' After Two Episodes, 'Gotham' & 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Renewed

Fox has ordered a second season of Empire after airing just two episodes. Comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine and superhero drama Gotham have also been renewed. Fox announced the renewals on Saturday (17th January) at the Television Critics Association press tour in California.

American Idol Finalist Josh Gracin Checks Into Hospital Following Suicidal Facebook Post

The Season 2 finalist posted a concerning message on his Facebook account on Friday, which caused worried relatives to contact the local police who were able to locate Gracin and bring him home. The singer was later admitted to hospital for observation, but was eventually discharged.

Gracin underwent a "personal crisis" according to today's statement on his Facebook

In the original post on his account, Gracin said "Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music. Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye." This cryptic message was taken as indicating he intended to commit suicide by concerned friends and fans. Luckily Gracin has now checked himself into an inpatient facility for treatment for his depression.

Autopsy Fails To Shed Light On Michael Johns' Sudden Death

In the days after the death of American Idol alum Michael Johns, his sudden passing was thought to be the result of a blood clot. However, an autopsy reportedly failed to determine the cause of death with any certainty. Earlier on Tuesday, TMZ reported that the final conclusion had been deferred until the toxicology report comes through.

Johns was loved and respected by friends, family and colleagues in the industry.

This may mean that substance abuse was involved in Johns’ tragic death. An unnamed source for TMZ has allegedly revealed some new information about Johns.

Friday saw the unexpected death of Michael Johns, a Perth-born musician, best known outside of Australia for his 2007 appearance on American Idol. He was 35.

Johns' death was attributed to a blood clot following his twisted ankle.

Johns quickly became a fan favorite for his soulful voice and good looks, after auditioning with the Otis Redding song I’ve Been Loving You Too Long. He never made it past the finalist stage and finished eight on the show, but went on to become that rare gem – and American Idol alum to achieve success post-show. He had a thriving music career and appeared on the TV special Hit Man: David Foster and Friends as well as various charity functions.

Jenifer Lopez and Casper Smart have separated after more than two and a half years together. American Idol judge began dating her former backing dancer, Smart, in October 2011 mere months after announcing her split from then-husband Marc Anthony.

The couple's relationship seemingly ended more than a month ago but the news has only recently been made public by a number of sources speaking to a US entertainment website. A source, speaking to People, said "They initially split about six weeks ago, but that can take a little time to extricate. But they've definitely broken up. The relationship had just run its course."
