The Season 2 finalist posted a concerning message on his Facebook account on Friday, which caused worried relatives to contact the local police who were able to locate Gracin and bring him home. The singer was later admitted to hospital for observation, but was eventually discharged.

Josh Gracin
Gracin underwent a "personal crisis" according to today's statement on his Facebook

In the original post on his account, Gracin said "Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music. Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye." This cryptic message was taken as indicating he intended to commit suicide by concerned friends and fans. Luckily Gracin has now checked himself into an inpatient facility for treatment for his depression.

He also published a follow-up statement on his Facebook, thanking fans for their support and apologising for any worry he caused. "I want to thank you all for your prayers and support. I take responsibility for my actions and apologize dearly for what I have put my family through. With the help of my family and friends, I am getting help. Again, thank you for your love and I will see you very soon" the message read.

Gracin is 33 years old and is best known for placing fourth on the second season of 'American Idol'. He has since gone on to release three studio albums.

The news comes just days after the suicide of actor Robin Williams, which has led to many calling for better understanding of depression and more medical and psychiatric support for those suffering from it or feeling suicidal.
