Amy Schumer has been caught up in a firestorm of accusations alleging that she has stolen certain jokes from various comedians' stand-up routines. Now the 'Trainwreck' star has reached out via radio to absolutely deny that she's done anything of the sort and even promised to take a lie-detector test.

Amy SchumerAmy Schumer denies stealing anyone's jokes

The allegations suggest that she has directly taken jokes from the likes of Tammy Pescatelli, Wendy Liebman, Patrice O'Neal and Kathleen Madigan and implemented them in her own stand-up shows and television sketches. One of them includes her 'Slap Chef' skit from 'Inside Amy Schumer'; a joke that suggests a good diet would be to pay a chef to slap food out of your mouth, something that was alluded to in an Oprah routine of Madigan's.

'I had never seen Kathleen Madigan's Oprah bit', Schumer insisted on Jim Norton's SiriusXM show yesterday (January 20th 2016), adding that it was actually another writer that came up with that particular sketch. However, she did admit that another sketch entitled 'Sleep Gym' was one that she put in the show, but she was still unwaware that a similar joke had also been done by Madigan.

The similarities between the promotional posters for 'Trainwreck' and 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' was another thing that was pointed out.

Liebman weighed in on the 'joke theft' situation with a Tweet (that's now deleted) reading: 'Between Amy Schumer doing 1 of my best jokes on her HBO special and this meme of my joke, I'm done with social media.' However, Schumer insists that she is friends with both Liebman and Madigan and points out that it's likely to be Pescatelli spreading rumours. 'Both Kathleen and Wendy believe me, they know me and they don't believe that I would do that. I think this is like Tammy trying to get something going, I don't know', she said.

Tammy Pescatelli has indeed been causing the most uproar over the situation with a string of Tweets (also deleted). 'What has always been amazing to me is that she purports to be a feminist and yet only steals from other female comedians', she says. 'If we call her on it we are "jealous" or career shamed. Be successful. WE want you to do well, just do it will your own material. BTW she blocked me.' She also denies trying to 'get something going': 'I appreciate the credit of being a mastermind, but I am a hard working wife, mom and comic. I barely have time to start my car'.

Anyhow, what remains now is Schumer's categoric denial that she has ever stolen any jokes from those comedians, and she's willing to take a lie-detector test to prove it and air the results - whatever they may be - on her show. 'I would never, ever do that, and I never have', she says. 'I'm literally gonna take a polygraph test and put it on my show this season and I promise, whatever the results are, I won't let them cut, I will show that I had never seen Patrice do that bit. I've definitely never seen [Tammy Pescatelli's 2006 Comedy Central special.'

She reiterated her stance on Twitter with the post: 'On my life, I have never and would never steal a joke.'
