The Filmmaker Who Won Acclaim Earlier This Year (15) With His Documentary About Amy Winehouse Is Now Tackling The Rise And Fall Of British Rockers Oasis.
Amy director Asif Kapadia will serve as executive producer with filmmaker Mat Whitecross directing the untitled expose.
"Oasis are without a doubt one of the classic British rock bands, selling 70 million albums worldwide and defining the sound of a whole era," Kapadia says. "At its heart are Liam and Noel Gallagher, two of the finest rock and roll stars this country has ever produced.
"Mat's sensibility and style are going to provide the perfect complement to this tale of the rise of one of the great rock and roll bands."
The Gallaghers, who have been estranged since Oasis split up in 2009, have yet to comment on the project, but sources tell NME.com the documentary's filmmakers have been given "unprecedented access to the band and unseen archive footage".
