Fact: A new musical inspired by Meg Ryan's animated 1997 film Anastasia is set to premiere at the Hartford Stage in Connecticut next year (16). Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak will take charge of the adaptation, with help from playwright Terrence MCNally and composer Stephen Flaherty and lyricist Lynn Ahrens, who originally worked on the hit movie. The story, loosely based on the Russian Revolution, follows the adventures of the youngest daughter of the last emperor of Russia as she attempts to find her relatives, years after escaping an attack on the royal family.
