Andrew Garfield, the actor who played Spiderman in two recent movies, is looking forward to seeing Tom Holland step into the role.
Andrew Garfield is pleased he’s no longer portraying Spiderman. Garfield says he’s pleased Holland will be taking over the role he played in two Amazing Spiderman films.

Garfield was asked about Holland’s casting at a red-carpet event – the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Annual Grants Banquet - in Los Angeles on Thursday (13th August). Garfield claimed he was “excited” to see Holland in the role as Holland is a talented actor. He also revealed he is slightly relieved to be stepping away from the role as it was a burden to play such an iconic character.
"It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor," Garfield told ET’s reporter at the event. "He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor."
"I’m just really excited to just be a fan [of Spiderman] again as opposed to bearing the weight of it," he added.
Garfield also commented on Holland’s physique. He claimed the 19-year-old West End alum, as a dancer, had the right “form” to play the agile superhero.
Holland will play Spiderman in two upcoming films. There will be a new stand-alone Spiderman film and a second appearance in another Marvel film, Captain America: Civil War. Civil War, due to be released next year, will see Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) pitted against one another – and their superhero allies – as they attempt to gain command of the Avengers.
