Movie star Andy Garcia made history in his native Cuba at the weekend (03JUL04) by taking over the Dominican National Palace in Santa Domingo to shoot a new movie.

The actor was granted access to the government building for his new film THE LOST CITY, which he is directing and starring in.

It's the first time movie cameras have been allowed inside the palace - part of the Cuban government's bid to boost filmmaking in the country.

For the shoot, small explosions were detonated inside the presidential building to recreate a failed assault during the revolution which brought FIDEL CASTRO to power in 1959.
