It's official: there's going to be a sequel to 2012's surprisingly successful musical comedy Pitch Perfect titled, of course, Pitch Perfect 2. Fans of the original movie need to get excited because the stars of the show, Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, will be back in the sequel for more sing-offs, jokes and dramas.

Anna Kendrick
It's Confirmed: Anna Kendrick Will Return For 'Pitch Perfect 2.'

The movie's Twitter feed posted two new posters for the movie, which will be released in May 2015. The new shots show Rebel and Anna as their characters Fat Amy and Beca with the caption "They're Back!" whilst the other shows the whole singing team - The Barden Bellas - posing with sunglasses. As far as teaser posters go, they've done a very good job.

At the end of January it was announced that Elizabeth Banks, who's played one of the a cappella judging panel in the first movie, was moving into the director's seat for the sequel. This will be the first feature-length movie that the Hunger Games actress has helmed, having hones her skills on shorts and segments in the past.

"Elizabeth originated the idea for Pitch Perfect and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success," said Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley. "She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we're thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on Pitch Perfect 2," via THR.

It's hardly a surprise that a Perfect sequel was greenlit: the original managed to gross more than $115 million worldwide on a $17 million budget and saw chart-smashing sales in ancillary markets - an estimated $135 million - which includes physical and digital home sales as well as the platinum-selling soundtrack and Anna Kendrick's triple platinum-selling single, 'Cups.'

Rebel Wilson
Rebel Wilson Will Also Be Back For More A Cappella Action.

The original film followed an all-female singing group at university to take on an all-male rival team for a campus sing-off. Micky Rapkin wrote the book on which Pitch Perfect was based but Kay Cannon ('30 Rock,' 'New Girl') will be writing the sequel. Here's hoping it will be as quotably singable!

A release date of the 15th May 2015 has been set.
