Anna Nicole Smith Larry Birkhead

It’s been nearly 10 years since model Anna Nicole Smith died, leaving behind her five-month-old daughter Dannielynn. In the years since her mother’s tragic death Dannielynn has been living quietly with her father Larry Birkhead in Kentucky, but the memory of Anna Nicole is still being kept very much alive for her daughter.

Nicole Smith Daughter Dannielynn Receives Multi-million Dollar Payout

Anna Nicole Smith

Anna Nicole (nee) Smith died tragically, while fighting a legal battle for her late husband’s millions, but Nicole Smith’s daughter from another relationship, Dannielynn Birkhead, has seen the case resolved and in her favor. Anna Nicole famously married millionaire J. Howard Marshall, who was 62 years her senior, in 1994. He died one year later, kicking off a chain of tragic events, which included the death by drug overdose of Smith’s son Daniel in 2006 and her own overdose on prescription drugs just five months later.

When Anna Nicole died, she was still engaged in the battle with Marshall’s family over his estate, estimated to be somewhere between $500 million and $1 billion. Anna Nicole never saw the payout, but now, thanks to the ruling of a California judge, her 6-year-old daughter will, according to TMZ’s report on the case. The website states that the payout will be for the grand total of $49 million, despite despite a 2011 Supreme Court ruling against Smith's estate that overturned a previous $475 million.

Hopefully now the whole thing can be left behind in the past, so that Dannielynn might have a chance at a normal childhood – or as normal as possible, under the circumstances. Dannielynn currently lives with her father, Larry Birkhead and does modelling work for Guess Jeans’ children’s division.

Hot Tickets! This Weekend’s US Movie Releases, Killing Them Softly, The Collection, Universal Soldier, Craptastic (Addicted To Fame)

Brad Pitt James Gandolfini Ray Liotta Andrew Dominik Emma Fitzpatrick Jean Claude Van Damme Dolph Lundgren Anna Nicole Smith

The highlight of this week’s movie releases is, unarguable. This is the time of year that many major releases come smothered in a blanket of ‘will it / won’t it’ chatter, with regards to Oscar nominations. The run-up to the release of the Brad Pitt-starring Killing Them Softly has been muted, though and it looks as though the Academy might be glossing over this particular mob tale.

Of course, gangster stories, in themselves, are nothing new in Hollywood but Killing Them Softly is showing signs of being one of the better ones. The perfect mix of dark drama and dark humour, Pitt leads a stellar cast, including James Gandolfini, and Ray Liotta (gangster movie essentials, no?) and director Andrew Domink has wooed the critics, thus far, causing Andrew O’Hehir of Salon.com to comment “It has a weird, buzzing, intense quality that has burrowed its way deep into my brain like some invasive sci-fi organism.” It remains to be seen, though, whether the folk over at the Academy decide it’s worthy of a nod.
