After the death of his daughter, doll maker Samuel Mullins had a crisis of self. Children have been his life and making toys to make them happy was something that offered him much joy. Now he lives with his wife and they still mourn the loss of their daughter some twenty years prior.  

They live in a large yet rundown home and the doll maker decides to open up his home to Sister Charlotte and a group of orphaned children. Other than a roof over their heads, the Mullins don't have much to offer them but it's more than they have at the moment so they accept the couple's generosity.

One of the children he takes in is called Janice and she soon starts exploring the home. As she tries to enter one locked room, Samuel stops her and tells her that it's locked for a reason. Janice continues on her way; she loves all the dolls in the house, they become her friends and often sits down and has a dolls tea party with them. One of the dolls is extremely large - almost the same size as Janice - and it seems that the doll takes just as much of an initial liking for Janice as she does for it. Knowing the dark history of the doll, Mullins can't keep the doll from associating with the child, even though Janice doesn't realise the immediate danger she's in.

In the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia lies a blue-collar coal-mining town called Big Stone Gap, full of hard-workers and morally upstanding citizens. Ave Maria Mulligan isn't getting any younger, but she's no qualms about living life as a spinster while working at the local pharmacy. She has plenty of friends and more than enough stability, but all that's about to change with the death of her mother. She discovers secrets she never knew about her family, including the truth about her Italian father who she's determined to travel to Europe to visit. Then out of nowhere her only love interest wants to marry her, but she's not sure if she's ready for that. This woman has enough on her plate to keep her busy, but she's really got to think about what she wants from her life now.

Frank Mollard is a real estate agent who lacks the rather crucial quality of enthusiasm when it comes to his work, so it's no surprise that he struggles to sell property despite the market being the best it's been in years. But he has enough problems in his personal life to contend with; he's struggling being alone after a heartbreaking divorce and he's desperately at odds with his teenage son. One day, however, a much needed source of comfort arrives in the form of a phone call. The woman on the end claims to be his mother, and she does sound remarkably like so - only his mother died a year ago so it couldn't possibly be true. It turns out to be a wrong number, but Frank still decides to visit the mistaken woman, Sarah, enamoured by her familiar voice and missing his mother now more than ever. He has dinner with her, even meeting her real son Damien, but she's bewildered by Frank's desire to continue seeing her. He knows his mother is gone, and this stranger is not in a position to replace her, but it's going to take some real soul-searching to let go of the women in his life.

German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz is on the hunt for a brutal gang of murderers, the Brittle brothers. His search leads him to the only person who has information on the group, Django, who is a slave living in the deep south of the States. Schultz crosses his path as he finds Django shackled to a group of other slaves who are all being taken to auction. Posing as a dentist, Schultz requests to buy him from his owners. On the owners' refusal, Schultz ruthlessly shoots them to death and takes the slave. The bounty hunter promises to free Django and take him to rescue his wife, Broomhilda, who has been enslaved by a Mississippi plantation owner on the dead or alive capture of the Brittle brothers. On their success, Schultz frees Django as promised but the pair decides to stick together as bounty hunters full time. Their search for Broomhilda leads him to the 'Candyland' plantation owner Calvin Candie who has trainer Ace Woody train slaves to fight each other for sport. The bounty hunters arouse suspicion from loyal house slave Stephen as they arrive to explore the property under a false guise and soon become under threat by a dangerous organisation who are determined not to let them escape with Broomhilda.

This western drama is directed by the award-winning director, writer and Quentin Tarantino ('Pulp Fiction', 'Kill Bill', 'Reservoir Dogs') and includes a star-studded cast. 'Django Unchained' is a thought provoking story set in the deep south of America two years before the Civil War. It was inspired by 60s western 'Django' along with its sequels and includes a cameo appearance from 'Django' star Franco Nero.</p><p>It is set for release on December 25th 2013 in the US and January 18th 2013 in the UK.
