The movie explores what went into the making of the globally chart-topping record, which gripped listeners in 2013 with singles such as 'Afterlife', 'We Exist' and, of course, 'Reflektor'. The Grammy winning alt-rock collective, fronted by husband and wife Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, recorded in Montreal alongside co-producers Markus Dravs and James Murphy (of LCD Soundsystem) after a long trip to Jamaica and went on to sell out venues internationally with the subsequent Reflektor Tour.

The Caribbean experience inspired them to incorporate elements of Haitian rara music in this epic double album, which they later paid tribute to with a show at the colourful Haitian Carnival.

The documentary has been directed by Kahlil Joseph, who won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Short Films in 2013 with Flying Lotus' short film 'Until the Quiet Comes'; named after their album of the same name featuring three of the record's songs. 'There were parts of the Reflektor tour where I think we, Arcade Fire, came the closest in our careers to putting on stage what we imagined in our heads', the band revealed. 'We were insanely lucky to have Kahlil Joseph documenting from the very beginning.'

Indeed, Joseph got a very unique insight into the world of Arcade Fire, with 'The Reflektor Tapes' chock full of stunning visuals, in-depth interviews and incredible footage from live shows to backstage fun - as well as material from the band's personal archives. 'Being open to being led by spirit, music is exactly that', was one of the more profound quotes heard in the new film teaser.

Plus, the movie will also include a previously unheard track and this new announcement is paired with the release of a video for their song 'Porno', also directed by Joseph and with a further glimpse into what the documentary is all about.
