Ariana Grande has had to pull out of her scheduled performance at Rock in Rio in Lisbon on Sunday (May 29th) due to a throat and sinus infection. The singer made the announcement on her social media accounts, telling fans she’d been ‘crying over this for an hour’.

'I'm deeply saddened to tell my babes in Portugal that I have to cancel my performance in Rock in Rio. (I've literally been crying over this for an hour)…' Grande wrote. ’I have a throat & sinus infection & my doctors have advised me not to sing for a few days.'

‘I promise to make it up to you, and give you the best show I'm capable of when I return. Again, I'm so sorry to the babes who were coming to see me. I love you with all my heart.' Grande released her third studio album Dangerous Woman on May 20.

The past week has been extremely busy for the 22-year-old. At last weekend’s Billboard Music Awards she preformed new track ‘Into You’, then at ‘The Voice’ finals she took to the stage with Christina Aguilera for a duet of Ariana’s song ‘Dangerous Woman’.

On Dangerous Woman Grande collaborates with artists including Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Macy Gray. This weekend she scored her first ever UK number one on the album chart, beating Drake’s Views, which had spent two weeks on the top spot.
