During the KIIS FM Jingle Ball concert in Los Angeles last week (6 Dec.), both Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez had a spot of technical difficulties when their mics went off part-way through their performance. For Grande, it was a moment to laugh about, but when it happened to Gomez, it was a much more embarrassing affair and even prompted the singer to swear and then storm off stage. Grande insists she meant nothing with her remark, whilst Gomez is staying quiet about the whole thing

Gomez, who performed before Grande, was busted for lip syncing after her mic went off and the music kept on playing behind her. Aggrieved, she swore and tried to communicate with the audience a little whilst the tech difficulties were sorted out. Once they were, Gomez performed one more song, 'Come & Get It,' before storming off stage despite having two more songs on her setlist. When the same thing happened to Grande, it was clear that she was singing and in a playful and joking manner she told the crowd, "At least you know I'm not singing to a track."

To some, this was seen as a deliberate jibe towards Gomez, especially considering the two are romantically linked to Justin Bieber, sparking further rumours that the remark was a personal shot at Gomez. However Grande has since taken to Twitter to explain herself, insisting that she meant Gomez no disrespect, adding that she wasn't een around to witness her technical malfunction in the first place.

"Ohhh Jesus. I wasn't throwing shade AT ALL," she tweeted after the event. "I didn't even see anyone else's set. I was sick backstage that's why I didn't even do the carpet."

She later tweeted, "I was just cracking a joke cause my mic was off. Everyone had tech difficulties. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way it wasn't my intention!"
