The biopic, written and directed by Tucci, will also feature Geoffrey Rush as Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti.

The film focused on the celebrated painter's struggle to perfect his portrait of his friend Lord during a series of sittings in Paris, France in 1964, when their relationship was tested to its limits.

The script is based on Lord's own account of the experience in his book, A Giacometti Portrait.

The movie, which is currently being shopped around at the Cannes Film Festival in France, marks Tucci's return to the director's chair for a feature film after previously taking charge of 2007's romantic comedy Blind Date.
