Rockers Avenged Sevenfold paid tribute to their late drummer Jimmy Sullivan during their set at Britain's Download Festival on Saturday (11Jun11), dedicating the show to "our brother upstairs".
Sullivan died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in December 2009, and the band considered quitting altogether in the wake of his passing.
However, they returned to the stage last year (10) and Saturday's festival performance in England marked their first appearance in the U.K. since the drummer's death.
The group took to the Main Stage ahead of headliners System Of A Down, and performed for fans with new drummer Arin Illejay.
They performed several of their hits, and after remembering Sullivan as "our brother upstairs", frontman M. Shadows called on fans to celebrate the late drummer's life, as a large image of the star unfurled as the backdrop on the stage.
System Of A Down ended the second night of the festival with a 26-song set - their first performance in Britain for six years. Bullet For My Valentine and Linkin Park will round off the third and final night of the event on Sunday (12Jun11).
