A Singaporean dance music festival set to feature Avicii and Afrojack has been cancelled over a licensing problem.

The 2015 Future Music Festival Asia was due to take place next Friday (13Mar15) and Saturday (14Mar15) at the Changi Exhibition Centre, but organisers have been forced to scrap the event after being denied a public entertainment permit from officials at Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs.

A statement posted on the festival's website reads: "Despite having put in place a robust event, security, safety and medical management plan which has been developed alongside both local and international experts with a combined 50 years of experience in running similar large-scale events, our Public Entertainment License has not been granted."

The gigs were also due to feature Fatboy Slim and The Prodigy, among others.
