R&B legend Babyface has been "inspired" by his production work with Barbra Streisand and Aretha Franklin to step back into the studio for his first solo album of new material since 2005.

The When Can I See You hitmaker reveals he has been gathering tracks for the follow-up to Grown & Sexy in recent months after teaming up with the music icons and reuniting with longtime pal Toni Braxton for each of their upcoming projects.

He tells Billboard.com, "(They) inspired me. Just doing work here recently with a number of people has just got me back into the mode of writing and wanting to record. So I've been putting things together off to the side, as I always do, and I'm getting ready to beam in on it this summer and have it done by this fall (autumn)."

Babyface, real name Kenneth Edmonds, hopes to release the first single from the album in September (14), with the record hitting retailers in time for St. Valentine's Day (14Feb15).

The prolific singer/songwriter hasn't been completely absent from the charts since 2005's Grown & Sexy - he released Playlist, an album mostly of covers, in 2007 and is currently enjoying the success of his Braxton duets project, Love, Marriage & Divorce, which debuted in the U.S. at number four in February (14).
