British Academy of Film and Television Arts BAFTA bosses have postponed director Kevin Macdonald's university masterclass in Hong Kong due to the region's ongoing political unrest.

The Last King of Scotland filmmaker was due to give a lecture titled The Craft of Directing in conjunction with Bafta on Wednesday (15Oct14) at City University of Hong Kong.

However, the event has been postponed because it is feared students will be more concerned with attending an ongoing protest against proposed electoral reform.

In an official statement, a spokesperson for Bafta says, "Due to the current situation in Hong Kong, it is uncertain whether the Bafta masterclass scheduled with director Kevin MACdonald with the City University of Hong Kong would receive the student audience at which it is aimed."
