In the Night
Basia Bulat releases a new EP titled 'In the Night' on February 18th 2008 through Rough Trade Records.
Basia hails from the forest city of London, Ontario, where it's said she found her songs and stories dangling from the trees. But that's perhaps a little modest; Basia grew up playing piano from the age of three and since then she's picked up guitar, autoharp, banjo, ukelele, sax and flute amongst others. Her song writing developed out of endless hours spent playing with friends and her brother Bobby, who happened to play the drums. Perhaps this explains the distinct sense of play that suffuses her songs of love, regret and joy.
Debut album Oh, My Darling - a unique blend of folk and chamber pop, infused with sweet ragtime piano melodies and tender-hearted string arrangements complimenting Basia's singular voice - received high praise across the board in the UK upon it's recent release. This will now be followed on February 18th by a stunning 3 track EP that sounds like a triple A-side single to our ears!
Basia Bulat is currently on tour with St. Vincent in America.
