The guitar great passed away at his Las Vegas home in May (15) after suffering a series of strokes, but daughters Patty King and Karen Williams challenged the cause of death amid speculation the icon had been deliberately poisoned by his longtime manager LaVerne Toney and his personal aide Myron Johnson.

A lawyer for Toney and Johnson blasted the accusations at the time as defamatory and libellous, and they were cleared in July (15) when Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg revealed King died from natural causes. He listed Alzheimer's disease, combined with other physical conditions including coronary disease, heart failure and the effects of Type 2 diabetes, as the cause of death.

Now Johnson is taking the dispute to court and demanding unspecified damages in excess of $10,000 (£6,250).

In papers filed against King, Williams and Rita Washington in Clark County District Court on Thursday (10Sep15), Johnson charges the trio with seven counts, including defamation, libel, slander and conspiracy.

He is being represented by Brent Bryson, the same lawyer who works for King's estate.

Toney declined to be a co-plaintiff in the lawsuit after she was appointed the musician's estate executor, according to Bryson.
