Biography

Beady Eye (formed 2009)
Beady Eye is an English rock band consisting of former Oasis members Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer and Andy Bell along with Chris Sharrock and Jay Mehler.

Formation: Beady Eye came about in 2009 with Liam Gallagher announcing an upcoming project with Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock following the break-up of Oasis.

Musical career: Beady Eye released first promotional single 'Bring the Light' in 2010 as a free download topping the indie and rock charts in the UK. Their first proper single was 'The Roller' and in 2011 they released their debut album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding'. That year they covered 'Across the Universe' by The Beatles with proceeds going to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal. They also recorded a version of 'Blue Moon', which is a popular football song sung by Manchester City fans during matches, supporting the team's new kit. They embarked on a world tour but didn't play any Oasis songs to begin with. Subsequent gigs, such as the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony, saw them perform tracks from their old band like 'Wonderwall'. They released 'Flick of the Finger', the first song from their second album, in April 2013. The release of second album 'BE' was later announced and first single 'Second Bite of the Apple' came out in May.

Liam Gallagher Beady Eye V Festival

Beady Eye's set at this year's V-Festival is under threat after guitarist Gem Archer was hospitalized for "severe head trauma" after an accident last Thursday evening (August 1, 2013).

According to a statement posted on the band's website, Archer is currently under observation in a British hospital and the band have cancelled shows in Belgium and Japan set for later this week.

Beady Eye - BE Album Review

If Beady Eye's first album Different Gear Still Speeding sounded like the musical equivalent of when a teacher has walked out of a classroom for five minutes, then the minimally titled BE is certainly the sound of the teacher walking back in; sitting up straight, arms folded and listening to instructions. With no Noel around to provide a human filter, Beady Eye's début found itself in pastiche mode with Beatles and Stones, The Roller etc.; it was a notable step back from the last Oasis LP, Dig Out Your Soul, which is why it was so refreshing to hear that Liam and co. had called in the innovative producer Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio) to twiddle the knobs on this second effort from the Oasis remainders.

Beady Eye - BE Album Review

Sure, there are a few Lennon moments here or there, but you knew that, right? And this time they are few and far between. Instead, what we are treated to is an album that surprises at every opportunity. The Production is atmospheric and intriguing, while the song writing owes more to grooves than riffs, leaving a far more contemporary taste in the mouth.

First track Flick of the Finger puts the listener in his or her place with immediate effect, trumpets and repetitive drums open this album rather than heavy guitars; it's nearly a minute before Liam sneers through the fog of horns and gives Gem and Andy Bell the nod to get involved.

And that's it. Another year passes and Worthy Farm closes its gates on the Glastonbury Festival revellers for another 12 months. Though there's always the distant murmur of someone professing it "the best Glastonbury ever," there was a palpable feeling that this year's festival was among the finest in history. Firstly, there was heightened anticipation given the fallow year in 2012 and secondly, the sun came out. Oh, and The Rolling Stones made their debut, rollicking through a two-and-a-half-hour set on Saturday (June 29, 2013) and scoring five-star reviews across the board.

The surprise return of David Bowie in 2013 had left many commentators speculating on the possibility of the Thin White Duke headlining the legendary festival, though there was no lingering thoughts of "What if?" once Glastonbury got underway on Friday with a snappy set from Sheffield heroes Arctic Monkeys. Bowie became all but a moot point after Saturday, when Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and company played a career spanning set that included 'Jumping Jack Flash,' 'Tumbling Dice,' 'Start Me Up,' 'You Can't Always Get What You Want,' 'Gimmie Shelter,' 'Doom and Gloom' and 'Midnight Rambler.' "The night belongs to the Stones. By turning on the charm as well as the formidable back catalogue, they prove themselves well worth the wait," said the Guardian's Dorian Lynskey.

Liam Gallagher and his band Beady Eye played an unbilled set at the Glastonbury Festival on Friday morning (June 28, 2013), officially opening three days of music set to be headlined by Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones and Mumford & Sons. The show took place on The Other Stage at the rather early time of 11am, though thousands made the journey from their soaked tents to watch the former Oasis man.

Though Beady Eye's show did not feature in the programme, frotman Liam has dropped a major hint earlier in the week, tweeting, "11am Friday - BE there or BE square.LG," while photographs showed the band travelling to Glastonbury on the train. Gallagher had always vowed never to return to the Pilton site following his former band's headlining set in 2004, telling The Sun, "The sound is s*** and really quiet. You can hear the crowd talking while you're playing. It's like Bond Street with mud, with loads of celebrities walking around in their boots and umbrellas. I'm not having it."

Liam Gallagher was given the enviable job of opening the 2013 Glastonbury Festival with a surprise set on The Other Stage on Friday morning (June 28, 2013). The singer, who aired his dismay for the festival following his former band Oasis' set in 2004, arrived on-stage and immediately launched into Flick of the Finger, a recent single for Beady Eye.

The cloudy weather and early start did nothing to deter the famous Mancunian, who was on typically brash form. "It's never too early for a bit of Rock'n'Roll aggro, is it?" asked Gallagher as his new band launched into Morning Glory, an Oasis hit written by his brother Noel Gallagher.

Liam Gallagher Eats His Words: Beady Eye To Play Glastonbury?

Liam Gallagher Beady Eye Oasis

After Oasis headlined Glastonbury in 2004, lead singer Liam Gallagher vowed he'd never return to play there again, telling radio station XFM that "The sound is s**t and really quiet. You can hear the crowd talking while you're playing. They don't put any money into the PA and it's just full of f**king idiots." The volatile frontman added: "Now it's like Bond Street with mud, with loads of celebrities walking around in their boots and umbrellas. I'm not having it."

Will Beady Eye Play A Secret Glasto Set?

Well seems something changed in Mr. Gallagher's heart -now the band have their new album BE  to promote and The Sun reports his post-Oasis band, Beady Eye, will perform a secret set somewhere onsite, someday this weekend at midday. Reports of a surprise gig are yet to be confirmed by the festival or the band, but Gallagher himself was apparently spotted getting off the train at Castle Cary - the closest train station to the festival. The star was allegedly seen wearing sunglasses and emerging from the first class carriage.

How Did It Come To This? Liam Gallagher And Robbie Set For 'The Voice'

Liam Gallagher Robbie Williams Nicole Appleton Oasis Beady Eye

We bet while Liam Gallagher was travelling the world with Oasis in the heady 1990s, he didn't expect to appear on a dodgy singing contest with Jessie J, Tom Jones and that bloke from The Script. Ok, so he's not auditioning, but his band Beady Eye will take to the BBC stage on Saturday night (May 15, 2013) to sing live on 'The Voice.'

There is a problem.

Liam's sort-of arch-nemesis Robbie Williams - who isn't really his arch-nemesis - will also be on-set to record a pre-recorded performance with Dizzee Rascal. Heads will roll! Probably. Worried bosses are the BBC are apparently keen to keep both parties on separate sides of Pinewood Studios, despite the fact that Liam, nor Robbie are that bothered. A show source told The Sun: "Relations between Robbie and Liam do seem to have become less hostile but the bosses aren't taking any chances. They had hoped they wouldn't be in the studio at the same time but as Robbie's tour clashed with the final, his performance has to be pre-recorded. So we have given them separate Winnebagos on either side of the studio and called in extra security to be on hand in case the pair do kick off."

Step Off A Train, All Alone At Dawn: Liam Gallagher Returns To Manchester [Pictures]

Liam Gallagher was mobbed by Oasis and Beady Eye fans as he stepped off a train at Manchester Piccadilly on Tuesday (June 11, 2013) to launch his new album BE in his hometown. Liam - wearing his trademark mac, jeans and desert shoes combo - signed autographs and posed for photographs on the train platform before heading to HMV on Market Street to launch the record.

Busy commuters stopped in their tracks and pulled out smartphones as the Manchester legend paraded through the city centre. Later, Gallagher invited 100 fans to an after-party at his designer store Pretty Green on King Street, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"On my way to Manchester centre of the universe," Liam had tweeted earlier in the day, before arriving in the north-west with band mates Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock for an acoustic gig of tracks from the new album.

"Nice As Pie" - Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye Shoot Music Video In Lancashire Pub

Liam Gallagher Beady Eye

Liam Gallagher’s band Beady Eye caused quite a stir in the Lancashire village of Baxenden, near Accrington, when they filmed the video for their latest track ‘Flick of the Finger’ in the local pub, the Dog and Partridge. Local resident Ian Brennan reportedly took his daughters along to meet the former Oasis frontman and even got to chat to him during a filming break, NME reports.

“I asked them what it was all about and they didn’t want to say anything at first but then they told us it was Liam Gallagher," Brennan told the Accrington Observer. “As we walked back up the road he came out, it was quite surreal seeing him at our local boozer. The girls were quite scared when I went to talk to him but he was nice as pie." The Baxenden resident then added “I asked him for photos with the girls and he was chatting to them telling them his mum was a dinner lady and asking if they were off school. People always say he’s mad but he was really sound.”

‘Flick of the Finger’ is taken from the forthcoming Beady Eye album, which will be entitled BE and is scheduled for release on June 10, 2013. It’s the first album release from the band since their 2011 debut Different Gear, Still Speeding. This summer, the band are scheduled to play headline slots at V Festival and T in the Park.
