Bear Grylls has recorded a cameo appearance in 'Planes 2: Fire & Rescue'.

The adventurer has lent his voice to the character of Avalanche, a smoke jumper, in the big Disney summer movie.

Bear had great fun taking himself outside of his comfort zone, saying: ''It was a huge honour having Disney ask me to do it, I have been a huge Disney fan as a kid and I am now a renewed Disney fan as I have got three young boys who all love it.''

The movie focuses on a crew of elite firefighting aircraft who are devoted to protecting the historic Piston Peak National Park from wildfire.

The story comes alive when Dusty (voiced by Dane Cook) - a world renowned air racer - learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again.

Dusty then turns his attention to the world of aerial firefighting, where he and his friends discover what it takes to become a true hero.

The list of notable people who have lent their voices to the flick also includes Ed Harris and Julie Bowen, who is perhaps best known for playing Claire Dunphy on the sitcom 'Modern Family'.

'Planes 2: Fire & Rescue' follows last year's hit movie 'Planes' which grossed over $200 million worldwide.
