For any actor, one of the coolest things about getting to star in a superhero movie is the outfit - especially in this day and age when costume designers can do so much with a needle and thread. The new Power Rangers uniform was a particularly jaw-dropping moment for star Becky G.

The 20-year-old 'Shower' singer turned actress gets to play Trini, the Yellow Ranger, in the forthcoming reboot of the teen hero franchise and one of the highlights of her time on set was getting to see herself in her revamped costume for the first time. It's certainly better than the Spandex and PVC nightmares of the past, but took a painstaking three hours to fit.

'It was layers on top of layers and armour on top of armour and placing it where we needed it to be', she recalled. 'The incredible team that made the suits were like, 'Sorry!'. They kept apologising and I'm just there like, 'When is this gonna be over?!'. Finally they placed one of those long mirrors in front of me and I was speechless.'

Such a transformation had quite the profound effect on Becky G, who found herself connecting with the spirit of the Yellow Ranger right there in front of the mirror. 'Right then and there, my shoulders relaxed, my posture changed and I felt one with the suit because it just looked so killer, so badass', she continued. 'I was like, 'Dude, I'm a Power Ranger, this is amazing!' So all that uncomfortableness that I went through was so worth it.'

She also added that the team 'lost it' once they got to see what they looked like on camera. The other Rangers are played by Dacre Montgomery (Jason the Red Ranger), Naomi Scott (Kimberly the Pink Ranger), RJ Cyler (Billy the Blue Ranger) and Ludi Lin (Zack the Black Ranger).

Directed by Dean Israelite ('Project Almanac'), the movie is a reboot of the 90s franchise 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' and follows a group of high school kids who find solace in each other away from the trials and tribulations of teenage life. Together they discover a hidden space ship and a million-year-old sage named Zordon (Bryan Cranston) who enlists them to be his team of superheroes and imbues them with the power to take down adversaries the likes of the dastardly Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks).
