No further details about the tragedy were known as WENN went to press, but the funeral was slated to take place on Wednesday (25Mar15) in her native Penrith in New South Wales.

Wilson's son, Daryl Gillespie, says, "It's a real loss, she was a great actor. In my eyes and in a lot of other people's eyes my mum was a national treasure."

Wilson shot to fame as a child with a role in 1957 film The Shiralee opposite Peter Finch, while her other film credits included A Cry from the Streets, with Max Bygraves and former Bee Gees drummer Colin Petersen, and Summer of the Seventeenth Doll.
