Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice tied with political documentary, Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party with four ‘wins’ at the annual Golden Raspberry Awards on Friday night.

The Razzies celebrate the worst in cinema every year and take place two nights before the Academy Awards, The unlucky  ‘winners’ (who rarely appear to collect their trophies) receive a statue of a "golf ball-sized” raspberry which has been spray-painted gold.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was named worst sequel, worst screenplay, worst supporting actor for Jesse Eisenberg (who played Lex Luthor), and worst screen combo for the superheroes themselves, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.

Tying the comic book movie for the most wins was conservative anti-Hillary Clinton documentary Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, which was named worst picture.

Rebekah Turner (who played Clinton in the film) won worst actress, while director, writer and narrator Dinesh D'Souza took home worst actor and worst director. In a video D’Souza accepted his awards, saying: “Being dissed by you guys, this is absolutely fantastic. My audience loves the fact that you hate me!”

But the night didn’t just celebrate the bad. Mel Gibson was honoured with the Razzie Redeemer Award, for going from receiving a Razzie worst supporting actor nomination for The Expendables 3 in 2015, to becoming an Oscar contender for directing Hacksaw Ridge this year.
