'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' finally made its New York premiere yesterday (March 20th 2016) as fans gear up for the excitement of its theatrical debut on Friday. The cast and crew of the hugely anticipated DC crossover movie were all over the red carpet, along with a few special guests and the cast of pre-Batman TV series 'Gotham'.

Gal Godot, Amy Adams and Holly Hunter looked stunning in their premiere gowns as they joined male co-stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg at the event. Oscar winner Hunter plays Senator Finch in the new film, which sees a world turning against the all-powerful Superman, in favour of a mortal hero with less chance of inflicting collateral damage or, indeed, destroying the world on an impulse.

Indeed, that's what 'Batman v Superman' is all about; there are many ways to fight evil, and no-one's quite sure who to turn to. There's Batman; wealthy, mortal and willing to kill anyone who threatens the safety of his city. Then there's Superman; an alien with a love for the human race, humble and yet willing to lay bare his godlike powers, potentially dangerous and yet doesn't believe that execution is always the answer.

They have a lot in common, however, in that they have both had disrupted and difficult childhoods, they both lead double lives and they both want what's best for mankind. But is this enough to unite them as a team? Or will evil be left to prevail as they fight each other?

Funnily enough, during the filming of 'Batman v Superman', there were reports of a genuine rivalry between stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Both personalities clashed and they found themselves competing in their training regime, something which pleased director Zack Snyder no end because he believed it would have a positive effect on their onscreen chemistry. However, the pair seemed friendly enough at the New York premiere, which can only be a good omen for the future of our superheroes.

Gal Gadot had all eyes on her as she prepared to unveil herself finally as the new Wonder Woman; a role which she is set to reprise in her own currently filming movie set to be released in 2017, before the arrival of 'The Justice League Part One' and 'Part Two'.

We also got a glimpse of Will Smith, who smiled alongside Affleck and Cavill on the red carpet. While he doesn't appear in this movie, he will be portraying Batman nemesis Deadshot in 'Suicide Squad' later this year alongside Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Cara Delevingne and others.

He doesn't have a huge role in 'Batman v Superman' but, in many ways, it's the most important role of all; Patrick Wilson plays the President of the United States and he arrived at the New York showing alongside his family including wife Dagmara Dominczyk and two children Kalin and Kassian.

The cast of TV show 'Gotham', including David Mazouz, Camren Bicondova, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, Drew Powell, Sean Pertwee and Chris Chalk, also came to support their sister movie as they continue into their second season which is due to conclude on May 16th 2016. This month it was announced that the show - which explores the early years of James Gordon and Bruce Wayne - has been renewed for a third season.

Finally, an unforgettable guest at the showing was the brain behind Batman's Dark Knight phase; Frank Miller. His sequel to 'The Dark Knight Returns' and 'The Dark Knight Strikes Again' entitled 'The Dark Knight III: The Master Race' became one of the biggest selling comics of last year and managed to sell nearly 500,000 copies.
