The whereabouts of Beyonce and husband Jay Z was a major talking point at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (12 February, 2012). Though the superstar couple were forgiven for missing the ceremony - what with the recent birth of their daughter Blue Ivy - they were conspicuous by their absence.
Jay Z was actually nominated at the 54th Annual ceremony at the Staples Center, though he instead chose to take his wife on a romantic pizza date. The couple were snapped taking a car from their home in downtown Manhattan to the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn, where they tucked into pizza at their favorite restaurant Lucali. A witness told US Weekly magazine, the couple "were just like a regular couple talking and whatnot. They were sitting in front of the place closer to where they make the pizza". The insider said Beyonce made sure to bid goodbye to the eatery's owner and the waitress before they departed. One fellow diner congratulated Jay Z on Blue Ivy's recent arrival, with the Roc Nation boss replying, "'Thank you. have a good night". At some point throughout the evening, Jay Z will no-doubt have been alerted to the fact he and Kanye West had actually won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance (for Otis).
Beyonce and Jay Z surprised fans last week after posting the first-ever pictures of Blue Ivy on their new Tumblr page. The couple had reportedly turned down huge magazine deals, with their close friend June Ambrose saying, "She (Beyonce) really wanted to do it this way. She just couldn't imagine selling pictures of her baby".
