Umm, Beyonce will be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards... is anyone really , surprised? Bey is everywhere these days. In the wake of her surprise album last December Bey has been at every show and received every music award, basically. But Bey and MTV have always had a special relationship, ever since the Destiny’s Child days. Are you wondering what this is leading up to already? Here it is – Beyonce will receive the Vanguard Video award during this year’s VMAs.

Beyonce
Flawless? Flawless.

Yay, right? Feel free to cheer, do your Flawless choreography, or add another poster to your Queen Bey shrine (you know who you are). According to MTV, the Michael Jackson Vanguard Video Award (try saying that one three times fast) is the highest honor given out at the VMAs and in the past, it has gone to Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Madonna, and, of course, the King of Pop. Oh and just an afterthought, she also has eight other VMA nominations. Year of Beyonce, anyone?

Beyonce
We're SO into this.

But let’s get real for a second here. This isn’t the Oscars, it’s the VMAs. This is the show where Miley Cyrus twerked on Robin Thicke and Lady Gaga showed up in a dress, made entirely of raw meat. It ain’t about prestige here. It’s all about the show. So as happy as we are about Yonce’s latest honor, the biggest thing to look forward to is her performance. The last time Bey performed at the VMAs was in 2011 with Love on Top, but it’s been three years, one surprise album and a hugely successful tour since then. Everything is bound to be a lot bigger this time around. The VMAs will be broadcast on Sunday, 9/8c ET from The Forum in Inglewood, California.
