It’s been a big week for new music releases in the Billboard 200 albums chart, as all of top three positions are taken by new entries. The soundtrack to smash musical drama ‘Empire’ has edged out Madonna’s new album to claim the top spot in this week’s chart.

The Fox hit series been tearing up the music charts as well as the TV ratings, selling 130,000 units in the week ending March 15th, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was also the third highest-rated primetime broadcast of the week, with last Wednesday’s episode attracting 14.9 million viewers.

Today, in honour of Martin Luther King Day, MTV is returning to its progressive, socially conscious days with a special twist on its programming. For twelve straight hours, the channel will air all its shows and music videos (all two of them) in black and white, in an effort to draw attention to racial tensions in the US.

Kendrick Lamar (pictured), Common and a host of other celebrities want Americans to have #thetalk.

Commercials will still air in colour though, presumably because capitalism trumps social justice.

Big Sean and Naya Rivera will not be walking down the aisle anymore.

After the celebrity pair became engaged only six months ago (October 2013), they have decided to call it quits on any plans for a future wedding.

"After careful thought and much consideration, Sean has made the difficult decision to call the wedding off," a rep for the rapper told Us Weekly on Wednesday (April 9th).

Naya Riveria revealed on Thursday (Oct 4th) that she is engaged to rapper Big Sean after flashing her diamond ring on the red carpet.

The 'Glee' star was attending the latina magazine's 'Hollywood Hot list' party, where she showed of her engagement ring.

Riveria began dating Big Sean, whose real name is Sean Michael Anderson, about six months ago according to Just Jared, who first reported their engagement.

Glee actress Naya Rivera and her rapper boyfriend Big Sean are now engaged, as confirmed via a spoksperson to Just Jared. Having dated since early this year, the couple went official last April when they were seen on the red carpet for the movie 42.

They've Swept Each Other Off Their Feet.

26 year-old Naya has since revealed that interest was initially sparked via Twitter when they began to chat after she'd seen a GQ photo spread of the Detroit rapper. "I had followed him and he sent me a little message like, 'I'm a fan.' I tweeted that I followed him; I was trying to get his attention. We went to dinner and the rest is history," she confessed to Access Hollywood. "He's like my biggest cheerleader, my best support system. He sings to me. He's the sweetest guy," Rivera revealed to WiLD 94.9.

Former Glee star Naya Rivera is engaged to her boyfriend, rapper Big Sean. Rivera's representative confirmed the news of their engagement today (4 October), speaking to Just Jared.

The 26-year-old actress and singer has been dating Big Sean, A.K.A. Sean Michael Anderson, since the beginning of this year. They made their first public appearance together in April at the premiere of 42, but Big Sean stated (in an interview with Complex) they had been dating for some time before. It seems, despite the publicity that has arisen from their relationship, they remained low key for some time and were not concerned about making their relationship public knowledge. Sean put their feelings at the time as simply being, "I really liked her and she really like me."

Kendrick Lamar has no beef with any of the “kings of New York” and that wasn’t even what his somewhat controversial verse on Big Sean’s Control was even about, the rapper himself says in an upcoming interview with Power 106. Lamar says that he did not expect his contribution to the Big Sean track to attract that much attention, but to be fair with so many names dropped in there, it’s no wonder the media took the bait and started looking for the rift between Lamar and his fellow East Coasters. The inflammatory line – or one of them anyway – goes: ”I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you n****s”

This isn't just a quick make-over either, as Kylie looks pretty darn different in her glamour shot, looking more like someone whose just celebrated their 21st birthday than their 16th. As commenters on the picture have noted, she shares a striking resemblance to her step-sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian Odom.

Kylie Jenner celebrated her 16th birthday in style this weekend. She threw a star-studded bash at the AT&T Center in Los Angeles on Saturday (17th August). The guest list featured the likes of Jaden and Willow Smith, Naya Rivera, Hailee Steinfield and Tyga; in addition to her elder sisters Kendall Jenner, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian. The 200 strong guest list was almost as large as the monstrous vehicle Jenner's been photographed driving, posting the images on Twitter and Instagram.

Drake and Big Sean performed at the event. Jenner even got a birthday kiss (on the cheek -let's not get carried away) from Drake, which she's now covered her Instagram page with pictures of.  That wasn't the only treat in store for Jenner. A video, uploaded by a party-goer, shows Jenner receiving a heavy gold chain from Drake while he performed.

Big Sean's new track 'Control' was only released on Tuesday but already the rap world is up in arms over guest rapper Kendrick Lamar's 3 minute verse in which he boasts, disses and namechecks other artists in order to make it sound like he's the undisputed big dog.

Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Pusha T, Drake, A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller, NaS, Eminem, Andre 3000 and Meek Millz are not even all the names spat out by Lamar as the rapper compares himself to a King, the Pope and Italian writer/politician Machiavelli. He also adds in Lindsay Lohan, Sir Paul McCartney and Sean Connery for good measure, just in case Hollywood or The Beatles' guitarist ever considers encroaching on his self-anointed rap lordship.

Kendrick Lamar turned heads in the hip-hop world this week following the premiere of a new track by Big Sean - Control - featuring the Compton rapper.

It was the instant classic verse from Lamar that caused the stir, with the 26-year-old dubbing himself the "King of New York" and putting himself in the company of some of the game's very best.

"I heard the barbershops spittin' great debates all the time, Bout who's the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas," he spits.

Kendrick Lamar has not been in the most subtle of moods of late. He's started to find the trappings of fame and fortune irritating or so his lyrics would suggest.

Lamar's rant features of Big Sean's upcoming Hall of Fame album. The 7 minute long track, in which Lamar raps, has not been released owing to sample-clearance issues. This track, 'Control', is highly critical of the attributes of rap culture, including the frivolous lifestyles of other celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan.

Kendrick Lamar is rising to the top and won’t let anybody stand in his way, the rapper has made that much clear by calling out a bunch of rappers on his latest track “Control (HOF)”. Actually, name dropped would be a more accurate description, because the list of… um… homeboys includes quite a few big names.

She may not feature on the track itself, but Miley Cyrus is by all means the star of the video for Big Sean's latest single, 'Fire.' The 'We Can't Stop' singer takes centre stage in the music vid, which shows the singer appearing in a variety of different poses throughout the magazine photo-shoot-esque video.

Sean only appears in a few seconds-long snippets as the subject of a burning photograph, whilst Miley ensures that the camera remains almost solely on her, with the altering shots of her being split up between clips of an exploding peach, some roses and some extreme close-ups. The whole thing will probably get you a little flustered, but despite Miley's skimpy outfit choices the video does come off as being a much more artistic venture than you may have initially guessed. The technicolor showcase definitely succeeds in flaunting Miley's best bits and comes off as being both artistic and sexy, a feat which isn't easily attained by any means.

It's all rather hip hop and happening in the rap world right now as lyric-spitting titans can't wait to share new tracks with fans in 2013. We've had Kanye West's Yeezus, Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail, Lil Wayne's I Am Not A Human Being II to name a minority but now we're sitting pretty waiting for Drake's upcoming September album and third studio effort, Nothing Was The Same.

It looks as though Pauly D’s been poached. According to TMZ, the former Jersey Shore star may well be parting ways with MTV, the network that made him famous. Real name Paul Delvecchio, Pauly D could well be kissing goodbye to MTV, in favor of more money.

Sources have reportedly told TMZ that MTV are keen to bring his show The Pauly D Project back to the network for a second series, but he’s been dragging his feet. Now that the E! Network have offered a lot more money to do a reality show with him, he’s really dragging his feet, it would seem. According to the sources, Pauly has had 3 meetings already with E! and they’re dead set on making sure the show goes ahead. The programme, it seems, will focus more on Pauly’s life in general, rather than his life as a DJ. Presumably that means a lot more time on camera making himself beautiful.

Pauly D was the first member of Jersey Shore to get a spin off show and no, it looks as though he’s spun right off the hook, rejecting the loyalty of TV for the allure of the big bucks offer from E! In addition to his TV show, Pauly D is also scheduled to be releasing an album early next year. He’s been in the studio working with Big Sean so Pauly D fans should be expecting that pretty soon.

Rap superstar Kanye West has supposedly upset members of the Royal Family through a combination of loud music and weed-smoking at a hotel near Buckingham Palace. According to Britain's 'The Sun' newspaper, the 'N****s in Paris' rapper and his entourage were staying at a high-class hotel near the Palace at the same time as members of the Royal Family.

West has been living in London for several months, residing within the Lanesborough Hotel, a luxury hotel with private dining and butler service. Accompanying West were rappers Common, Big Sean and Pusha T. While there, West took over the entire top floor of the hotel, creating space for a fashion workshop and music studios, for the price of 2,700 GBP per night.
