British actor Bill Nighy twice ran off to France as a young man, in a bid to live a romantic lifestyle as a celebrated novelist. The Pirates Of The Caribbean: DEAD MAN'S CHEAT star, 56, admits he now cringes when recalling his Parisian exploits and how much his behaviour worried his parents. He recalls, "I did cause them much distress, yes. I was kind of a mess, and I was selfish. When I ran away, I wrote a letter to my father instructing him not to try and find me. "After he died, I found it in his papers, and it was arguably the most pompous, stupid thing I have ever read. It was a great regret to me by then. My father was a very decent man."
