Bindi Irwin remembered her late father, Steve Irwin, almost 9 years to the day since his tragic death. Irwin took to Instagram to share a picture of her father on Sunday (6th September) and included a touching caption. Her post also coincided with Father’s Day in Australia.

‘Thinking about home today. Father's Day is today in Australia and everyone is celebrating at Australia Zoo,’ Irwin captioned a picture of her father with a crocodile.

‘It's such a special time of year, I hope everyone who comes to the zoo today is able to enjoy it with our gorgeous animals. No matter where I am in the world, this day means such a lot to me. My heart forever lives Australia Zoo - just like Dad's always did.’

Irwin was eight-years-old when her father, known as The Crocodile Hunter, was killed by a stingray barb whilst filming a documentary at the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia. Irwin and her mother and brother, Terri and Robert, continue Steve’s conservation work at the zoo they own in Queensland.

The 17-year-old Australian wildlife conservationist is a contestant on Dancing With The Stars, partnered with Derek Hough. She is currently in rehearsals and is relishing her new “adventure”, as ET reports. She can be seen on DWTS when it premieres on ABC on 14th September.

Irwin is not the only celebrity to have paid tribute to their lost loved ones over the past week. Actor Chris Pratt, best known for his role in Jurassic World, also shared a tribute to his late father on Twitter.
