Reformed British boyband Blue's hopes of winning the Eurovision Song Contest were dashed on Saturday (14May11) as an act from Azerbaijan scooped the title.
Singers Antony Costa, Duncan James, Simon Webbe and Lee Ryan reunited and entered the European competition on Britain's behalf, and had the backing of British singers Sir Cliff Richard and Robbie Williams.
They performed the track I Can at the Dusseldorf, Germany contest, but only notched up 100 points to finish 11th in the rundown.
Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal of Ell/Nikki, who flew the flag for Azerbaijan, were named Europe's favourite - their love song, Running Scared, scored 221 points.
Meanwhile, Blue star Duncan James insists the competition was "just the beginning" for the group, insisting, "This is about the rebirth of Blue. We are back with a new album and hopefully a tour. It's amazing to be back with these guys. Eurovision is just the beginning."
