Blythe Danner is still mourning her late husband.

The 72-year-old actress was devastated when producer Bruce Paltrow passed away in 2002 after battling throat cancer while in Italy to celebrate their daughter Gwyneth Paltrow's 30th birthday, and admits she is still adjusting to live without him.

She said: ''He was the life force of the family, so it's been a real loss. Some days it still doesn't sink in. I keep thinking, 'Where is he? Oh...' It's still very strange.''

The 'Meet The Parents' actress wed Bruce in 1969, and since losing him has no interest in finding love again.

She said: ''I just don't have the desire to.''

But she added: ''I feel much more confident at 72 than I did at any younger age. I feel more liberated. When you've been on this Earth this long, life just gives you permission.''

The 'I'll See You In My Dreams' star enjoys spending time with her daughter, 42, son Jake, 39, and their children.

Asked what kind of grandmother she is, she told PEOPLE magazine: ''I'm very goofy. I like to get down on all fours. I like to make up stuff and play hide-and-seek and scribble.''
