Soul legend Bobby Womack has sparked fresh fears for his health after falling sick and cancelling a show in Sydney, Australia.

The 69 year old, who has battled colon cancer in recent years and is also said to be suffering from Alzheimer's disease, was due to play at the famous Sydney Opera House on Friday night (24May13) but has called off the show due to ill health.

A statement posted on the venue's website reads, "We have just been advised due to health reasons, and as a precaution, Bobby Womack will not be performing tonight... All tickets for tonight will be automatically refunded."

Womack's second gig at the iconic building on Saturday (25May13) is currently expected to go ahead as planned.

No more details about the singer's health troubles were known as Wenn went to press, but the cancellation comes just days after the star cut short a set in Melbourne on Tuesday (21May13) after reportedly struggling with his vocals.

He is due to perform at Britain's legendary Glastonbury festival next month (Jun13).
