Jonas Brothers Bonnie McKee

The Jonas Brothers have cancelled their upcoming live tour due to creative differences, it has emerged. A rep speaking to The Hollywood Reporter said that a "deep creative rift" was to blame for the pop group's discord. The three brothers - Nick, Joe and Kevin - are said to be divided on the future musical direction of their successful boyband.

The Jonas Brothers Have Cancelled A Major Tour.

The decision to call off their planned major tour sprang from disagreements over their expected fifth studio album and first release since 2009. A source speaking to THR explained, "Once they realized they couldn't agree on music, it became a question of, 'Why would we go out on tour right now?' Their thought process was to get everything straight in terms of the creative. It was not a small thing [to call off the tour]."

Friends In High Places Aid Songwriter Bonnie McKee's Bid For Pop Stardom

It looks like there’s a new pop star in the vicinity – or an aspiring one anyway. You may not have heard Bonnie McKee’s name before (in which case, you better get used to it), but the songwriter is the one behind major hits by Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Tayo Cruz, Britney Spears and many, many others. Now she’s thrown in her bid for a solo career in front of the mic. Appropriately, with its poppy tune, upbeat chords and summery vibe, the song sounds strongly reminiscent of a Katy Perry number or two – presumably, also written by McKee. If the poppy, synth-infused tune American Girl isn’t exactly to your liking, maybe the video will change your mind.

The video features McKee of course, but it also has more cameos than a Saturday Night Live episode. Starting with Katy Perry, we also get to see celebrities like Macklemore, Aram Lambert, Carly Rae Jepsen, Karmin, Nicole Scherzinger, Kiss, George Takei, Perez Hilton, etc. etc. – and that’s not even half the list. It also features McKee eating a red-white-and-blue popsicle, but that’s beside the point. This is probably one of the benefits of working in the music industry – lots and lots of friends available for help, should you ever feel like launching a musical career of your own.

Think of someone currently in the pop music business – no really, anyone – and they’re probably in Bonnie McKee’s new music video for American Girl. If you’re wondering who Bonnie McKee is, you wouldn’t be the first. It’s not that you haven’t heard her music, it’s just that the songwriter has so far stayed behind the scenes, writing music for people like Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Tayo Cruz, Adam Lambert and Carly Rae Jepsen.

Bonnie McKee, MusiCares Person of the Year
Bonnie McKee - we might be seeing a lot of this face in the future.

Coincidentally, all of these people make cameo appearances in her American Girl video. Joining them are other stars, like Kiss (we’re not even kidding), Macklemore, Jewel, Jason Derulo, Karmin, Kelly Osbourne – seriously, it’s pretty much the 2012 Billboard chart squeezed into a single video. Plus an appearance by McKee herself, of course. In the video, she’s eating a cheeseburger and sucking on a popsicle. It’s not as bad as it sounds, though. And to be fair, the song is quite catchy.
