Six months on from the announcement of their explosive divorce, it has been reported that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are on “cordial” speaking terms for the first time as the custody battle over their six children goes on.

Back in September last year, when the news broke that Jolie and Pitt were to disintegrate their two-year marriage and relationship that had lasted for over a decade, it looked as if the process would be ugly, with details played out in the press.

However, in January this year, both sides agreed that the details of the custody of children Maddox (15), Pax (13), Zahara (12), Shiloh (10) and twins Knox and Vivienne (8) would be kept private in sealed court documents.

From there, things seem to have gotten more stable and less fractious between the warring parties, with more than one source saying that they were now on tentative talking terms.

“They are in a place where they can put anger or hurt aside to focus on their children and how they plan to co-parent,” a source close to 41 year old Jolie told Us Weekly on Wednesday (March 22nd). “It’s been a difficult time for Angelina, and both are now willing to move forward and begin the next chapters of their lives.”

Another source says that it was Jolie who reached out initially, but that 53 year old Brad played along because “he knows that’s what’s best for the kids.”

The source continued: “They are only speaking about the kids, but have agreed that the kids’ best interest comes first and that they will be civil to one another.”

“They are still in the process of working things out,” a third insider familiar with the situation said. “They have made taking care of the children a priority and they are still figuring out everything else.”
