Brian May is an English singer/songwriter, best known for being the lead guitarist for the band, Queen.

Childhood: Brian May was born in Hampton, London, to Harold and Ruth May. He studied at Hampton Grammar School, where he earned ten GCE Ordinary Levels and three A-Levels in Physics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. He then went on to study Maths and Physics at Imperial College London, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Whilst he was studying at secondary school, May formed his first band, named 1984.

Career: In 1968, May and members of his old band, 1984, reformed into a new band called 'Smile'. He band only released six songs and officially disbanded in 1970 after only two years. Smile changed their name to 'Queen' after they gained two new members: John Deacon and Freddie Mercury. Queen were together from 1970 until Freddie Mercury's death in 1991. In 1983, May began working on a solo side project. The project became known as Star Fleet Project, and contained a contribution from Eddie Van Halen. May also helped with a solo album for the guitarist from Genesis, Steve Hackett. Following the death of Freddie Mercury, May devoted himself fully to finishing his album, 'Back to the Light' in 1993. In 1998, he released a follow-up album, 'Another World'. In 2004, the remaining members of Queen announced that they were going to begin touring again with Paul Rodgers as their lead singer. This lasted until 2009, when Queen and Paul Rodgers went their separate ways, once again, although they stated they were not ruling out another tour together. In 2011, the band began touring with Adam Lambert after he appeared on the eleventh series of American Idol.

Personal Life: In 1974, May married Chrissie Mullen and the couple had three children. After having an affair with Anita Dobson exposed in 1986, Chrissie and Brian separated in 1988. May then married Dobson in 2000.

In a recent interview, Noel Gallagher shared the reason he thinks so many people seem to inexplicably hate U2’s Bono. According to him, “nobody likes a do-gooder”, and Bono is certainly well known for his work with the likes of Amnesty International, DATA and the One Campaign among others.

Queen: Biopic Is 'finally Happening'

Queen have confirmed their biopic is ''finally happening''.

The rockers - comprised of Brian May and Roger Taylor, as well as past member John Deacon and the late Freddie Mercury - have announced that work on their biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is officially underway, with principal photography due to start in September.

In a new post published to the band's official website QueenOnline.com (QOL), the band said: ''Yes folks, it IS finally happening. You've been hearing rumours about Bohemian Rhapsody The Film for some time, but now QOL is about to become your most direct source of official information. This will be the place to come to stay ahead of all the very latest news and updates as the film gets underway - and hopefully we'll have some regular insider information to share with you too. (sic)''

Ian 'H' Watkins has been reading his Twitter feed ''through tears'' following the explosion and death of 22 victims at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester on Monday (22.05.17).

The Steps band member has taken to social media to open up about the upset, and although he has had tears pricking at his eyeballs as he scrolled through social media and read the heartfelt tributes to those who have lost loved ones in the incident yesterday.

He tweeted: ''Reading my twitter feed through tears. WHY?? Just PURE EVIL ! (sic).''

The 'Stay With Me' singer broke his social media silence on Monday (26.12.16) - his first post since June - to pay his respects to the late 'Careless Whisper' hitmaker, who was just 53-years-old when he passed away at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, South East England on Christmas Day (25.12.16).

Well it was a good idea while it lasted, but it appears Sacha Baron Cohen will not be playing Freddie Mercury in the upcoming Queen biopic after all, guitarist Brian May has confirmed. Queen’s long time manager Jim Beach was said to have announced Cohen’s involvement in the film on Thursday, while accepting an award at the Artist & Management Awards at London's Troxy venue.

According to the Daily Mail, Beach had told the audience “You have probably followed the saga of the famous Queen-Freddie Mercury biopic which has been developing in Hollywood for the last seven years. Sacha Baron Cohen has been confirmed as playing Freddie Mercury in a upcoming Queen biopic, according to the band’s manager Jim Beach. Beach, who has managed the band since 1978, made the announcement on Thursday night at the Artist & Management Awards at London's Troxy.

Along with starring as the band’s iconic frontman, Cohen will reportedly also be producing, writing and directing the film, according to the Daily Mail.

Queen are by far one of the most recognisable and celebrated bands of all time. Yet, after the tragic passing of lead singer Freddie Mercury, the two remaining members of band (Brian May and Roger Taylor) teamed up with American Idol season eight runner-up Adam Lambert in 2011. But wait, there's more! Queen + Adam Lambert are currently part way through a world tour that they began back in June 2014.

The band will be heading off for a European tour on 29th January, and making the rounds at Cologne's Lanxess Arena, Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome, Vienna's Stadhalle, Munich's Olympiahalle, Belin and Hamburg's O2s, Frankfurt's Festhalle, Brussels' Palais 12, Milan's Forum, Stuttgart's Schleyerhalle, Herning's Jyske Bank Boxen, Prague's O2, Zurich's Hallenstadion and Krakow's Arena. Then the group are heading back to the UK in late February to perform at the Wembley SSE Arena, the Liverpool Echo Arena, before finishing off at the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena on 27th February, and have just finished a show at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.

Queen Forever, a new album being compiled by Queen’s guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, will feature a previously unreleased duet between frontman Freddie Mercury and the King of Pop Michael Jackson.

‘There Must Be More To Life Than This’ was first written by Mercury during Queen’s Hot Space album sessions, but was never finished. Mercury later visited Jackson to record his vocals for the 1984 LP The Works, but the song was still left unfinished. It would later appear as a solo track on Mercury’s album Mr Bad Guy.
